 In the first half of the program, scientist J. Marvin Herndon discussed methane gas fears in the Gulf disaster. "Petroleum and natural gas deposits largely come about as a consequence of the earth fracturing," he said, and if there are cracks at the site of the oil leak, the initial fracture could spread, and potentially release a huge methane bubble. There've been suggestions that mass extinctions occurred in the distant past due to methane releases, he noted.

Richard C. Hoagland, who joined the conversation, said "we know there's a bulge-- the crust is literally being lifted upward in a ridge...and something is pushing it up, which is the pressurization of this extraordinary methane bubble they pierced with this deep well," which could be as deep as six miles down. If the methane bubble is released, it will cause water displacement that could create a massive tsunami, he warned. He called for the release of real time mud log data, so non-BP geologists could evaluate the situation.

Author and researcher Mitch Battros discussed a variety of Earth changes and environmental issues including the hurricane season and the BP oil spill, as well as the implications of Solar Cycle 24, and Mayan prophecy. Fluid displacement can make an area vulnerable to quake activity-- such as when companies drill deeply for oil, he noted. Strong hurricanes this year, category 3 or higher, may be good or bad for the oil spill, possibly taking the oil out to sea or causing it to surge up the East Coast, he outlined.

Charged particles that we call solar flares or coronal mass ejections "have an intricate interaction with Earth" that can affect our magnetic field and weather, he said. NASA scientists have recently sent out a press release highlighting possible dangers from increased solar activity as we head into the Solar Maximum (which peaks in 2012). There are signs of a possible magnetic pole shift related to changes occurring within the Earth's core, Battros added.

The Mayans spoke of a time of galactic alignment arriving in 2012, which Battros correlated with new scientific findings about bands of charged particles coming toward us from within the Milky Way galaxy. He conjectured that the Mayan civilization may be far older than what is typically thought, and observed long galactic cycles that repeat over thousands of years.

Dr. David Dosa talked about "Oscar," the cat who senses death. Dosa explained that the feline, who resides in a Rhode Island home for terminal dementia patients, will show up in a patient's room and hold a proverbial vigil until that person passes away. "As one death has become 2 and 4 and 8 and 12, it's been pretty hard to ignore," Dosa said. In total, he speculated that Oscar has predicted around fifty to sixty deaths. Rather than being frightened of a visit from Oscar, Dosa stressed, the vigils from the cat are well received by the family members of dying patients.
